The Piston Ring, based at Modderfontein in Gauteng, is the largest car club of its type in South Africa with over 850 members, and is proudly affiliated to the South African Vintage and Veteran Association.
If you are passionate about classic automobiles, and even if you don't own one, come and join our members and other visitors on the 3rd Sunday of each month at the Modderfontein Club grounds where around 200-300 cars are on display. If you are thinking of acquiring a classic, come to the Club and speak to some of our many experts who will be more than happy to give you advice. Entrance to our regular monthly meet is free, so come and enjoy yourself.

A chat with the Chairman:

On the 21st June we held the Concours which was well supported by 16 entrants all of whom spent a great deal of time preparing their well maintained vehicles for close scrutiny. Thanks chaps – and ladies - for the hard work you put into the preparation for the competition .There is a strong possibility that further cars will be entered for the Concours in July..Winners will be announced at the A.G.M. in August. Thanks to George Shipway for organizing the event and to Allan Langenstrass for helping with the judging.
100 years ago Hudson started operations and to commemorate that event we were able to twist the arms of a few Hudson owners to put their much cared for vehicles on display . we give them a big ‘thank you’ for their efforts which went a long way to make the arena an interesting place to be.
Also in the arena were a whole host of Minis which came into manufacture 50 years ago. They came in all colors and with various modifications and in different sizes [ engines that is] and made a magnificent show, spilling over to other parts of the grounds.Thank you Mini club for your strong support.
Toyota will be hosting the July meeting and we look forward with great eagerness to see what they do this yeaar.Meanwhile we appeal to owners of pre 1979 Toyotas to prepare their cars for that meeting.
Cheers for now Alex
